From 22 to 26 April 2025, as part of PâKOMUZé, computer coding workshops will be held for young people to learn how to compose algorithmic music, i.e. music generated by a set of mathematical rules and a degree of randomness.

In this workshop created by the EPFL Science Outreach Department (SPS), budding musicians and mathematicians will learn how to use the Scratch programming language to create original electronic music.

A guided tour of the exhibition Musica ex Machina: Machines Thinking Musically will precede the workshop to introduce young visitors to the thousand-year-old history of algorithmic music.

A light snack will be provided.
