LightScale II is a 20-metre-long installation, at once light and colossal, enhanced by 3D projections. Balanced by a system of counterweights, the long horizontal structure sways smoothly in the space as it is manipulated by the public.
The slow, gentle movements of LightScale II, detected by a position sensor, influence the 3D animations that are projected onto its transparent surface. It thus evokes the passage of a giant whale across a virtual ocean, or materialises invisible sea creatures.
By allowing the public to interact physically with digital data, LightScale II gives substance to multi-dimensional and dreamlike narratives, and confers narrative and emotional power on the space.
