Ion Mihailescu and Simon Dumas Primbault are postdoctoral researchers at the Laboratory for the History of Science and Technology at EPFL. They are interested in the virtues of reconstruction to learn about the past, and they teach an SHS course in experimental history.

Christiane Hoppe-Oehl is the Co-Founder of Art Recognition AG, a mathematician with 20+ years of experience in the banking industry. Christiane developed numerous statistical models, and successfully led International and cross-divisional projects at major international banks. When Carina, her co-founder, and Christiane learned from art historians about the issue of fakes in the art market, they got passionate about combining their scientific experience with their love for art. They founded Art Recognition with the goal to fight art forgery and increase the transparency and accessibility of the art market.

Speakers:

Nathalie Dietschy, UNIL

Nathalie Dietschy is assistant professor (conditional) in the Art History Section at the University of Lausanne. A specialist in the contemporary period, Nathalie Dietschy is particularly interested in photography since the advent of digital technology, from a visual culture perspective. She is the author of several articles on the relationship between artist's books, photography books and the digital, including "After Robert Frank's Photobook The Americans: Remakes, Variations, and Iconoclasm" (Photographies, 2020). Her research also focuses on representations of Christian themes in contemporary art. Her publications include Christ in the Mirror of Contemporary Photography (Alphil, 2016) and The Figure of Christ in Contemporary Photography (Reaktion Books, 2020), and she co-edited Christ Re-envisioned (Infolio, 2016).

Isaac Pante, UNIL

Isaac Pante is a lecturer and researcher in digital culture and publishing and president of the Language and Information Sciences section (Faculty of Arts, UNIL). Academic director of the dhCenter UNIL-EPFL and co-founder of the GameLab UNIL-EPFL, he promotes the hybridization of engineering sciences with humanities and social sciences. He is also a writer and has been awarded the Édouard and Maurice Sandoz Foundation (FEMS) Literature Prize in 2019.
